It is a sad commentary that, before advancing policies to help families be more successful, the first battle for Idaho Families Inc. (IFI) is simply to keep the idea of "family" alive.
Those who delight in tearing down society have rightly found a perfect way to do it -- destroy the fundamental starting point for all societies, the family. One leading social change website (now known to be infused with Marxist ideology) boldly proclaimed it among their chief objectives that:
"We disrupt the Western-prescribed nuclear family structure."
The National Council for Family Relations recently offered continuing education credit for a course taught by Critical Race Theorists. The "woke" academics proclaimed "family privilege is a structural mechanism 'hidden' within our white supremacist society that creates systemic barriers to equal opportunity and justice for all" and that we should "dismantle family privilege in family science scholarship, teaching, practice, and policymaking."
IFI stands diametrically opposed to this insidious lie. A healthy functioning family, whether genetic or adopted, IS a privilege that every child deserves We support all efforts, from empowering grandparents to improved foster and adoption programs, as needed to get children into the loving nurturing environments they deserve.
Chief Justice Marshall said "The power to tax is the power to destroy." There should never be a tax penalty for two people getting married.
Whether opioids, methamphetamine, alcohol or tobacco, the consequences of addiction fall hardest on the family. Addiction prevention and recovery is an investment that pays huge dividends.
Food, clothing, fuel for the car, the monthly power bill . . . when the cost of living escalates out of control, the family is who suffers. Governments should adopt anti-inflationary fiscal policy.
Parents have a crucial part to play to ensure early mental, physical and psychological development in their children. Involved parents can make a positive and lasting impact on their children’s learning ability. Children who are properly stimulated from birth to age five by their parents tend to perform better than other children in the long run. This "early" advantage means these children are more likely to complete their schooling, perform better academically, and lead healthier and more productive lives as adults.
Idaho families are facing many challenges as they are forced to rapidly adapt to changing circumstances in their children’s education. Funding available through the Idaho Board of Education helped Idaho children whose education was impacted by COVID-19. Through the Strong Families, Strong Students program Idaho families are provided access to grant funds to help with their students learning. Read more at https://www.strongfamilies.idaho.gov
